World of Outlaw Late Models Night #3 Feb. 16, 2014

FINAL WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODEL A MAIN TO DARRELL LANIGAN

ON A BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY AFTERNOON THE GRANDSTANDS WERE FULL AS WELL AS THE PITS. ALL THE DRIVERS WERE READY TO GO ON A SUPER FAST TRACK. FAST TIME FOR THE WORLD OF OUTLAW LATEMODELS WAS SET FOR THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW, WITH A QUICK TIME OF 14.626 BY BRANDON SHEPPARD.

HEAT RACE WINS WENT TO BRANDON SHEPPARD, BRADY SMITH, STEVE FRANCIS AND DON ONEAL. HEAT RACE ACTION WAS FOLLOWED BY TWO FAST PACED LAST CHANCE RACES. LAST CHANCE #1 WENT TO LOCAL DRIVER MARK WHITENER AND THE 2ND LAST CHANCE TOO RAYMOND MERRILL.

THE   WORLD OF OUTLAW LATE MODEL DRIVERS FORMED THIER FAMOUS FOUR ABREAST FORMATION TO SALUTE THE FANS. HANDS IN THE AIR, THE DRIVERS WERE WAVING TO EVER EXCITED DIRT LATE MODEL FANS. THE FRONT ROW DRIVERS OF BRADY SMITH AND DON ONEAL LEAD THE FIELD OF 24 CARS FOR THEIR 60 LAP EVENT. LAP ONE WAS QUICKLY LEAD BY THE REAL DEAL DON ONEAL WITH DARRELL LANIGAN AND BRADY SMITH CLOSE BEHIND. WHILE THE TOP THREE WERE FIGHTING FOR THE TOP SPOT, THERE WAS A THREE WAY BATTLE FOR 8TH BY IVEDENT LLOYD , TIM FULLER AND BRANDON OVERTON. THEY  WERE HIGH AND THREE WIDE COMING OUT OF TURN TWO.BY LAP TEN THE LEADER ONEAL WAS WORKING HIS MAGIC THROUGH LAP TRAFFIC. THEN A LEAD CHANGE ON LAP 15 WITH DARRELL LANIGAN GRABBING THE TOP SPOT. THE CAUTION WOULD WAVE ON LAP 17 FOR THE VODOO CHILD SCOTT BLOOMQUIST BRINGING HIS CAR TO A STOP IN TURN TWO. GREEN FLAG OUT ONCE MORE LANIGAN WOULD WASTE NO TIME LEADING THE FIELD OUT OF TURN FOUR. RIGHT BEHIND HIM WAS BRADY SMITH AND DON ONEAL.  AT THE HALFWAY MARK IT WOULD STILL BE LANIGAN WITH A COMMANDING LEAD.ONCE AGAIN WORKING THROUGH LAP TRAFFIC WITH EASE. THE CAUTION WOULD FLY ON LAP 39 FOR THE MACHINE OF BOOM BRIGGS WHO WOULD HAVE MECHANICAL ISSUES AND PULLED HIS CAR IN THE PITS. THIS TIME LANIGAN WOULD HAVE COMPANY AT THE GREEN WITH ONEAL HOT ON HIS BUMPER.THE TWO HARD CHARGERS WOULD FIGHT FOR THE LEAD FOR THE NEXT 21 LAPS KEEPING THE FANS ON THIER FEET WATCHING THE SHOW. AS THE CHECKERED FLAG WOULD WAVE IT WAS DARRELL LANIGAN FOR THE HUGE PAYDAY OF $12,000.00. THE SECOND PLACE HONORS WENT TO DON ONEAL, FOLLOWED BY BRADY SMITH, STEVE FRANCIS AND MORGAN BAGLEY.

THE FLORIDA MINI SPRINTS WERE ALSO ON HAND FOR THIER FINAL NIGHT OF EXCITING RACING. HEAT RACE # 1 WAS WON BY LOCAL DRIVER ROBBIE SMITH. THE SECOND HEAT WENT TO JIM YOUNG AND THE THIRD HEAT RACE HONOR WENT TO DAVID HALL.

HEAT RACES COMPLETED, IT WAS A-MAIN TIME. THE DUO OF JIM YOUNG AND ROBBIE SMITH WERE ON THE FRONT ROW READY TO LEAD THE WAY FOR 25 LAPS OF MINI SPRINT ACTION. AS THE FLAG WAVED THE CAUTION WOULD QUICKLY FOLLOW WITH THE 1G OF JOSEPH SMITH

SPINNING IN TURN ONE. AT THE SAME TIME WITH HIS BRAND NEW CAR YOU WOULD SEE DIRK MILLER FLIPPING HARD INTO THE WALL IN TURN THREE. THE RED FLAG WOULD COME OUT TO MAKE SURE THE SAFETY PEOPLE COULD TAKE CARE OF DIRK. A COMPLETE RESTART WAS AT HAND WITH THE LEAD BEING HELD BY JIM YOUNG , ROBBIE SMITH AND BRETT MICHOLSKI. THE FANS WERE ON THIER FEET ON LAP 3 AS ALEX BRIGHT WAS SIDEWAYS IN TURN ONE BUT WAS ABLE TO SAFE IT AND KEEP IT GOING. LAP 10 THE 24 MACHINE OF DANNY SAMS WOULD SPIN IN TURN ONE. ON THE RESTART IT WOULD BE ALL JIM YOUNG GOING TO THE CHECKERED FLAG WITH KYLE LICK, JAMES MORRIS, ROBBIE SMITH AND BRETT MICHOLSKI ROUNDING OUT THE TOP FIVE FINISHES.

ARTHUR WINS ACTION-PACKED NeSMITH LATE MODEL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

(photosbytrace.com)OCALA, FL – Walker Arthur of Forest, VA won an action-packed 10th Annual Chevrolet Performance World Championship Race for the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series on Saturday night at Bubba Raceway Park driving the Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farms Special. Arthur had to go to the back of the pack early in the 100-lap race, but put on a show getting back to the front. After a ten-lap side-by-side battle for the lead with Keith Nosbisch of Valrico, FL, Arthur took the lead for good on lap 76 and never looked back to claim the top prize of $10,000. Arthur said he made the right choice on tires, even though he second guessed himself just before the race started. “We had the right tire combination tonight, as we had a little harder tire on the right-rear than most everyone else did,” Arthur said. “Just before the race, I wasn’t sure that it wasn’t too hard, and I wanted to change it while they were doing driver introductions.
