It's the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Bubba Army Hobby Stocks presented by Ferrea Racing Components turn to take to the 3/8 mile track of Bubba Raceway Park and the action is as hot as Darrell Lanigan's 2012 season.

Our Hobby Stock drivers sent what Grady Christian called "6 of the best in Florida" and they all went at it for a $1000 prize. Kevin Durden dominated the first 13 laps but when it came to crunch time he had plenty of good company on his back. Going into turn 3 Sean Monoghan dove for 2nd and lost it all as his #51 broke loose to set-up the Green White Checkers. Durden had Tim Gay, winner last time out, and "Shady" Grady Christian trailing and when Gay fell off the pace it let Christian squeeze right into 2nd from starting position #6. Gay actually brought the yellow out as he was unable to exit the track which left "Big KD" to hold off "Shady Grady" and Brian Morgan. Christian seized the opportunity and forgot about the berm in turn 1, held his ground, and escaped the leader. Car #36 led just half a lap but it was the most important part and Grady Christian earned a cool $1000. Durden was a disappointing 2nd while Brian Morgan, Hunter Gustafson, and Devin Walker rounded out the top 5, respectively.

For the 6th time the World of Outlaws Late Models made the trip to Bubba Raceway Park and every driver was trying to make the trip worth it, especially with $7000 on the line. Action started off quickly when Josh Richards, Mike Marlar, and Darrell Lanigan all broke the track record set by Lanigan 364 days ago. Richards won the Ohlen Racing Shocks Fast Qualifer Award with a 13.771 (98.03 MPH) that probably won't last very long with the way the track has been progressing. The 4 heat races were quite simple as the top 4 of each would lock-in to the A Main feature- Richards, Marlar, and Lanigan all won their heats from pole and Brady Smith won the fourth from the outside pole. The B Main races were quite entertaining as local driver and WoO Rookie of the Year candidate Dillon Wood charged to 2nd and earned the 20th starting spot. Wood joined Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. and Mark Whitener as the Local Representatives. Eric Wells dominated his B Main race and Shane Clanton cruised to victory in the 2nd B Main. The Keyser Manufacturing Last Chance Showdown pitted 3 of the biggest names in the sport right now- Clint Smith, Chub Frank, and Billy Moyer- against each other for 1 transfer spot. The catch, however, was that Frank and Smith had provisionals to fall back on. No matter as "Cat Daddy" Clint Smith won the Last Chance. Frank and Kent Robinson would use the Provisional starting spots while Moyer was sent to the grandstands for the night.

Rick Eckert drew pole for the 35-lapper with Scott James on his outside. Josh Richards and Darrell Lanigan made up row #2 and Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. would grid in 5th. After the field completed 1 lap Tim Fuller, Whitener, and Wood caused the biggest accident of the night and it would force Whitener to retire from the race. Fuller would struggle to a 17th place finish and Wood limped home in 13th. Action got back under way and Eckert was not pulling away from 3-time track champion Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. "The Professor" dove underneath of "Scrub" and put his family-owned #21 on top of the scoreboard as the yellow flew for a slowing Ray Cook. Review of the scoring devices would count the lap and give Lloyd the lead with 25 laps left. Lloyd held the point through a lap 13 caution for Fuller, "Cat Daddy," and "Chubzilla" on the backstretch but gave it up when Darrell Lanigan used the high line to overtake the Ocala driver. With 2 to go Bub McCool, the reigning Rookie of the Year, stalled on the backstretch- bitten by the Sophomore Slump- setting up a restart with Lanigan leading Tim McCreadie (who had just used a Lloyd slip-up to jump to 2nd), Ivedent Lloyd, Jr., James, and "Rocket Man." Lanigan waved goodbye while "Rocket Man" rocketed into 3rd as he barely got nipped at the line by "T-Mac." Ivedent Lloyd, Jr. was the top finishing non-World of Outlaws champion in 4th but what could have been for "The Professor?" Scott James finished a solid 5th leaving the chassis builders with a nightmare: Rocket-Warrior-Rocket-Snow Brothers- Warrior!

Josh Richards carries the points lead into Saturday's action which will be a 50-lapper for $10,000 while the Hobby Stocks will again battle for a $1000 prize. Action starts at 7 so pits open at 4 and grandstands at 5 for tomorrow- you don't want to miss it! For more info check out www.bubbaracewaypark.com or call us at 352-622-9400!
